Series MM Fan Belt

A few years ago in anticipation of finishing the build on my Tourer, a friend of mine purchased through the MM Club of UK, a new old stock fan belt for my Series MM. It is a Ferodo V369, a very thick small belt. This belt did fit but was VERY TIGHT with no further room for adjustment. I have travell...

Re: Re chroming

I may be wrong but are just about all chrome parts for a Minor not available new from specialist Morris Minor outlets? I bought new from one guy in particular and even with the outragious postage prices from the UK to Australia it worked out much cheaper than rechroming, and I had a much more consis...

Service Intervals

I have had a look in my Workshop manual,
and I have found what to do in a service,
but, it does not state at what milage these
services should be done?

I don't have a glove box handbook, it may
say how often to carry out a service in that.

Hey does anybody know what sort of Miles per gallon a standard Sidevalve SHOULD do?

Also maybe one with twin Carbies or even more heavily modified would do?

Theroetically - Higher Octane Petrol

I was just wondering, theoretically what would happen if a higher octane peterol was used in a sidevalve engine? I recall that when the cars were new octane was about 60. The lowest octane we can get here in Australia is a 91 or 92. There is also a 95 and a 98 as well. The car runs fine on this with...

Re: Return springs on rear brake shoes.....?

Mike in the workshop manual diagram, bothshoes do have the adjuster recess, its just that they are both placed on the slave cylinder side on the diagram. Those springs that I have seem to be alot tougher than the others, this I assume would lead to a more opositive return of the shoes, but I imagine...

Re: Return springs on rear brake shoes.....?

Thanks Mike and Marky for your reply's. I have gone out to my shed tonight to swap the springs around, but there was no clearance ton the rear one to do so. It fouled the baking plate. Then I thought I would have a look at the picture Mike refered to, and to my surprise one of the springs are differ...

Lazy Semaphore

I have had to replace a "shorting" semaphore, with another that I had (used). It seemed to work well before I fitted it the car, but it is lazy now, fitted on the car. It needs a help to raise and help to drop. I have cleaned it, but is there any kind of lubricant that can be applied to th...

Return springs on rear brake shoes.....?

Hello I have had a look in the workshop manual I have and it does not mention it,
but which spring goes closest to the brake cylinder,
the thicker full length spring or the thinner partially sprung spring?

Dating 58023

A fellow I know is restoring a MM Sedan, I have not seen it yet. I think he said the number was 58023, I looked up the Original MM Book and it puts it at about June / July 1950. He said he thought it was a 1949 due to it NOT having the coach moulding around the rear of the roof pressing. I can't fin...

Steering wheel colours?

Did the Series MM have a Grey/blue marble pattern coloured steering wheel?

If so is there a name or colour code for these colours as we are restoring a
wheel for my friends 1955 series II 4 door and I know us series MM guys are
pretty good wit the right answer.

thanks, Oli

Re: Dashboard Clock

The above cl;ock is in very good condition by the look of the photo,
however it is not originaly from an MM. Possibly a Wolseley as suggested or an Oxford.

It has a different Hands, Bezel and Clock face to the Original Morris Minor one.

But it still looks good!

Good work Andrew, perserverance always pays off! Are you going to the All British Day, on Sunday week? Also how about the Ormiston Morris Minor Display Day next Month? I did a BIG 240mile Drive a few weeks ago, and the little car was fantastic. Cruised at 50-60 mph and the car was just so happy at t...

Series MM Brake drum Puller.

I have now done about 500 miles ande decided to check the brakes now that they must be bedded in. 3 out of the 4 drums came off OK, but the last one would not budge, after a long time and many swear words! So I decided to make a "Puller" for the brake drum. And I have to say it worked a re...
