Miles Per Gallon

Post by oliver-morrisminor »

Hey does anybody know what sort of Miles per gallon a standard Sidevalve SHOULD do?

Also maybe one with twin Carbies or even more heavily modified would do?

It all depends on what size right boot you have. A friend of mine with an Alta conversion reckons that he gets 42 mpg on a run. I have a two position accelerater pedal and reckon on the low 30 mpg. If you are worried about fuel consumption then you are not enjoying the drive.
Calculations are further complicated by the fact that petrol is sold in litres and distance over there is in kms and consumption is measured in miles per gallon

When mine was running badly it was doing low 20s mpg. With the timing reset I would say its much nearer the 35+ mpg and running so much cooler and better.

Too many Minors so little time.....
