Series MM Brake drum Puller.

Post by oliver-morrisminor »

I have now done about 500 miles ande decided to check the brakes
now that they must be bedded in.

3 out of the 4 drums came off OK, but the last one would not budge,
after a long time and many swear words!

So I decided to make a "Puller" for the brake drum.

And I have to say it worked a real treat!

This will only work with the early type of drums that use
a "bolt" rather than a nut to secure the road wheels.

I made the disc large enough so you can give it some gentle pursuasion
with a hammer if required.

You just bolt it to the drum and wind the front bolt in and it pulls the
drum right off the brakes, nice and evenly so it does not jam up!
(You also of course need to remove the axle nut first!)

It works well on both front and rear brakes. ( They are slightly different in axle length )
