Re: Buyers guide?

You should find lots of copies of various books and manuals at autonumbles and on eBay too. I'd recommend various books by Ray Newell, always insightful. Most classic magazines will have carried a minor buying guide at one time or other. Copies of a relatively recent guide from practical classics be...

Re: Brush paint

How much paint do you need ? If it's just a small amount for touch up purposes then you can buy this from ESM https://www.morrisminorspares.com/body-inc-panels-trim-c21/paint-spray-touch-up-c30/old-english-white-touch-up-uk-mainland-shipping-only-p828312 For a larger amount, I would suggest any auto...

Beyond the fact you can find a picture of the reg number on a ridiculously large Audi being used as a wedding car https://www.lauracalderwood.co.uk/halifax-wedding-photographer-sarah-paul/ I can't see anyway of finding out any further information or what the replacement reg number is unless as Berni...

Re: It's never the coil

Not sure what car you have but I would often run mk3 Astra's of that 30 year ish era. I picked up a very clean low mileage example a few years ago that kept breaking down and then re-starting when cool. Apparently neither the garage or the AA could fix it, blaming a non existent immobiliser. Having ...

Re: Misaligned bonnet

Is your concern the alignment on the LH front edge above the chrome rail or the rear of the bonnet clipping the wiper ? Many cars have bonnets that clip the wiper. Are the hinges in good order and ok ? Any broken studs or play in the hinge pin ? You could adjust from the bolts holding the bonnet to ...

Re: Brakes

As Les has said, check everything else first before diving in to replace the master cylinder. Is it just damp in the chassis leg or swimming in brake fluid ? Most chassis legs are 'damp' in there, years of people spilling fluid when they top up,but if it's very wet, you've probably got a leak. Unles...

Re: Indicator stalk

If you can locate one, a good second hand switch might be better. The new ones supplied by ESM may be ok, never bought one, but I'm a bit cynical of new spare parts, even the more expensive ones.

Hope all the far travelled Minors made the journey there ok. Looking forward to seeing photos of Moggyfest in due course. Would love to attend but would be a near 900 mile round trip !

Good luck on the return journey folks !

Re: Well chums, what would you do?

It might be worth confirming with ESM what the panels are painted with but almost always it is just a light paint to protect from flash rust and damage in transit. I would recommend taking them back to bare metal and starting from there. Everyone will have their own preferred way, but I'd bare them ...

A couple of interesting snippets from one of Ray Newell's books showing export numbers and key markets for Nuffield/BMC.

Re: Minors globally - where were they exported to?

I'm not aware of an exact list but it will certainly be a lot of countries. You have to remember in the late forties and fifties, the emphasis was on exports to help the U.K economy recover from the the war, so the vast majority of vehicles produced were exported. Initially cars would be exported co...

Difficult to say from the photo but that looks more like antifreeze than oil. Is the water level ok ?

I struggle with the logic of this. If you are prepared to carry bags and actually pick up the dog mess, you've done the hard bit. Why then hang it in tree ?! Putting it in the bin is the easy bit. The human psyche can be hard to fathom out...
