Re: Gearbox input shaft
Well bmc I have done what you suggested and changed the bearings plus a new lay-shaft and bearings and re-assembled using the pdf which is available. All has gone well and all gears appear to function as they should, however, on occasions the input shaft is stiff to turn and I have located the cause...

Gearbox input shaft
I have my ribbed gearbox out of the car because of an oil leak from the front, I am going to replace the front cover with the new version with the oil seal, however, the input shaft has play in it. How much movement should there be if I move it from side to side. Hope I don't have to replace that be...

Parts Numbers
Is there a parts reference list which brings together the different part indentification of the 8/9/10G*** the, 22A*** and 22G***
for example 10G150 is the same as 22A287 and 22G83, or so it seems. Moss for example uses 22A and 22G numbers and ESM and BM use 8/9/10G numbers.

Gearbox Numbers
I have just picked up, for free, a smooth case gearbox with what looks like the number 0N0 6934 or ONO 6934. Anyone have details about this as I thought all Minor gearboxes just had numbers and not letters.

Ignition Coil
Hi I have the old type screw on ignition coil and the bit that screws into the top of the coil to secure the HT lead has disintegrated. Has anyone got a spare, can I purchase one from somewhere or do I have to replace the whole coil with push on types.

Fuel Trap
Help needed. When replacing the dizzy on my 1098 engine the vacuum pipe connection is push fit on the new one where on the original it was screwed. The pipe and the fuel trap is in poor condition and needs to be replaced. Do I fit a plastic one without a trap at about £3 or a metal one with trap for...

Clutch and flywheel problems
A little help and advice is necessary please. Just taken delivery of a new clutch kit and ring gear for my 1098 engine, and oh dear they don't fit, too big. The gearbox to the engine is an 803 so I wonder if the flywheel has been replaced to the earlier 803/948 so that it would fit the gearbox. If t...

I have to replace my distributor as its completely nacked. When I look at a electronic replacement from Simonbbc there appears to be no advance/retard connection, why is this and what do I do with the other end from the caburetter.

OK, a bewildering array of distributors from SimonBBC and Accuspark so is it, "contacts or no contacts that is the question."
