Gearbox Number

Hi I have acquired a free gearbox from a local garage who say it is out of a Moggy, how can I tell. It is ribbed has the usual Morris markings on the casing and has the number 231445 stamped on the side.

Sounds like the business - now -take the side cover off and look inside to see the condition.......

I have this as mid 1969

Does this help?
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

OK thanks for the confirmation. Mid 69 is it then P, how do know that some sort of data base?
