Everyone: :D

Kate:
try joining your local MMOC branch, they'll probably be chock full of people who can give you helpful advice
Yeh, I was thinking that yesterday.... looked at the list though and looks like the nearest is Exeter, which, believe it or not is over 2 hours away. Not all is lost though, I remembered my old work mate at the pottery has a moggy (which he never stops talking about if you start him!). I expect he's got it all sorted and knows about others in the area. Maybe we should start our own!
On the other hand I'm looking for jobs nationally so where I'll settle is anyone's guess...
My dad's actually a computer (network hardware) designer, it's just he's one of these incredibly practical human beings. It's from him that I get the whole "I can do that" attitude
Yeh, I've grown up on a farm, which is kind of good as you dont get the peer pressure that some things are 'not done', which you get closer into a community. I dont think any of my friends know how to lamb a breach. (Actually thats not true - being at uni in North Wales means I know a few!! But thats beside the point  )
My mum's also a doctor, from a time when it was only just becoming something women did (Its becoming the reverse now!). She and my Dad never told me or my sisters that there's anything we cant do, so it never occurred to me there was! Or that other people might think there is - until I got into the wide world and met those people!
It took me a while to cotton on, but now I'm getting more assertive. ;-)

Its not even worth the time of talking about, when compared to the struggle other people have to succeed, who happen to have a certain background or live in the wrong country etc etc. Not atall.

My hydrology course, incidentally, was a class of all boys, plus me. Isn't that surprising? I think the supervisors accepted me cos I had some funny (completely hair-brained) ideas and they were intrigued as to where it would go... :)

Anyway. This whole thread is turning into waffle, and I should be finishing painting the outside of the house as its a lovely sunny day!

Thanks again, Everyone!

Sadly, I've lost the keys to the shed. *sigh*... i suppose I'll have to go for a walk instead. Oh I do feel sorry for you people with jobs.... (Ray)

Back to the rust - If I took some pictures and posted them on my (soon to be) website, would someone have a look and tell me what's what?

(I just found a very funny piece of creative woodwork behind one of the glass wings... hahaha) :o

That was patronising. Even though true, of course.
It was not meant to be as my eldest daughter has a degree in physics/astro physics and is a physics teacher, but as for practical common sense, and my youngest is a nurse with loads of common sense, and as for dad, I was a qualified Toolmaker before moving into telecomms and there is quite an enginering background in the family but a lot was found out the hard way as a child taking toys apart.
At the end of the day you have to want to do it to learn properly.
Cheers

I 'spect we could manage that :-)
It's probably the easiest way of getting some very rough idea of what you're looking at... let's hope it's not too bad :-)

Hrm, my dad once informed me that the Austin A40 Farina that he traded in for the Escort had a wooden front section he'd made.... it supported the headlamp bowl amongst other things - apparently it had the same problem as the mog with rusting away around there.... Mind you, I've got some photos of a Ford Pop in a scrappy which'd fill your hearts with terror (Mmm, yum, plates over plates over plates over what was once a sill).

Whoo! There are however, quite a lot of people in your county. While it's rather big... there must be SOMEONE who's up for some mog stuff !

Oh dear... that sounded bad :D *grins*

I do I DO!

Funnily enough, I was brought up on a dairy farm in Norfolk... And I'm dead proud of it! One of the reasons why I'm into Mogs I think is the whole "hands on" approach to it all. My dad always used to fix things when I was at home and while we never owned a car (we had the farm stuff and we decided in 83 that to keep a car that was used one day a week was dumb.. but that was it) I still walk around the fields near where I now live and stop if I happen across an old tractor and have a "good" sniff... I love that old tractory smell :D

*hides... that came out even WORSE!*

Yeah, see that go get attitude is good :) I find the problem is that people ofen don't see when I'm genuinely stuck with something...
