Splitty Travs...

Post by t_hinchliffe »

How common or rare would you say SII Travs are on the roads these days? 8)

Only the more I think about it the more I fancy one... TH

I agree , they look great, and are quite a rarity, how about a splitty van to compliment your 1000 one? :D

They are pretty rare, but you'll see a good handful at the National Rally. They sometimes come up for sale, however these tend to be basket cases - the good ones are next to impossible to get hold of.

I fancied one for a while, but when I got one I didn't want to let it out in the rain - that was a pain as it meant my garage was out of action for car repairs when it was raining - however that's when it was needed! I remember welding outside under a tarpaulin - the tarp was keeping the snow off me...

Oct 06: back from Dresden with my Trabant 601 Kombi
Jan 07: back from a month thru North Africa (via Timbuktu) in a S3 Landy
June 07 - back from Zwickau Trabi Treffen
Aug 07 & Aug 08 - back from the Lands End to Orkney in 71 pickup
Sept 2010 - finally gave up breaking down in a SII Landy...
where to break down next?
2013... managed to seize my 1275 just by driving it round the block :(

:D

So does this mean they're fairly expensive due to their rarity? What price range would you be looking at for a basket case splitty? TH

There speaks a man who wasn't there :D

There were only 2 this year :( (which made judging them fairly straightforward :D )

They should not be expensive as only the dedicated collector wants them due to the slower engines. SR's went for a couple of hundred on e-bay. he advertised it here too.
