Windscreen rubber pale grey and fading fast...

Hi, My windscreen rubbers at front and back are nearly white with age but still a good seal. I'm sure I've seen advice here for what to use to re-blacken them, but now can't find the topic. Any ideas? Preferably something cheap (!) and that will also help prevent the rubber perishing. I've already h...

SN4477/30 Speedometer

Hi, The speedo in my 1959/60 948cc has started playing up - and it is cosmetially damaged so I intend to replace it (as well as checking the cable). I had previously bought a good condition s/h gold face from (I was assured) another 948cc. It is an SN4477/30 (1376). However, looking at it, the numbe...

Mine is also fitted to the straight edge of the Quarterlight - directly onto the glass and like Orkney, you can't use it when the QL is actually open. They are supposed to attach to the upright runner of the main window but every time I've tried they simply come off after a few days - you can't tigh...

That make sense - never had a split either - in which case they wouldn't fit my '59 anyway.

One day I'll have to work up the courage to try to do it properly then... :)

Thanks guys.

Oh, my bad. I thought Kim had made a copy of what was already there - the earlier photo looks like an older inside-roof than the one he made himself in later photo. Found another post with another moggie owner using the same sort of thing: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=view...

Hi, I was looking for an alternative to the standard headlining - I just know I won't be able to fit this type myself! I was intrigued by some of the people on this board who had made roof linings and was wondering where they got the pattern or could buy them. e.g. http://www.mmoc.org.uk/index.php?n...

Headlining Alternative

Hi Folks, My headlining is dreadful and held together with tape etc. I aslo know it's the sort of job I will be useless at - I have no patience and others' comments throughout the forum have warned what a fiddly job it can be. On these grounds I also suspect it will be very expensive to have done by...

Or a pair for under a tenner here - you often see them singly too:

Thanks, yes. Bulb works fine directly off another source (and using the same earth point). But I intend to order a few spare when I get the flasher unit in case I blow anything up...

Flash in the Pan...

Hi, Electrics are one of my many poor areas so just wondered if anyone can give me some quick advice. My indicator warning light (which is a replacement one on the dash) has stopped working. The flasher unit is inside the car and gets knocked occasionally and I was scrubbing the bakelite with some N...

Hi, I've just had a hard time of it myself - took me over an hour to do the driver's side this afternoon. But I've finally got the seal on and mostly secure - let's hope it's still on tomorow! Luckily ESM gave me a couple of feet too much (probably because I have a 4 door and opening is smaller) so ...

Both megapixel count and lens/CCD quality are important. The advice we give people (I work in IT Support) is to look for anything above 4mp (which is nearly all cameras now) but with a good mecahnical zoom lens (digital zoom is simply a cheat). As my personal preference I use Canon because most Cano...

Yep, put carpet back in over the tunnel and you are right - it does rise up either side of the handbrake mounting. Just seems odd that there was never a gaiter. I know that the cars are old and I've been told that some of the basic features were actually "luxury add-ons" (e.g. a heater - w...

Handbrake Gaiter

Hi, Did moggies ever come with handbrake gaiters? Can't find any pictures. I know it's a bit naff but I'd like one to try to make my interior look a bit tidier. Can't find any on sale, unless mini ones could be adapted (such as the one here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HANDBRAKE-GAITOR-BLACK-MINI-ROVER-CO...

My old mini had been coach painted and the finish was wonderful - really deep gloss shine that was very robust and never seemed to chip. People used to comment on it. But I was told it's an extremely hard skill to learn to do well and that some people never get the knack - I think they mean't people...

Upper Mounting Point for seatbelt in 4-door

Hi Folks, My first post after much lurking... My local garage are trying to fit Securon inertia seatbelts (from ESM) for me on my 1958 4-door. They are a bit perplexed! I can remember photos showing other members here who have fitted the top mounting point just below the trafficator slot (I know thi...

I use a steering wheel cover in winter - sad I know but moggy steering wheels can get *very* cold. They look pretty naff but I use the universal black "leather effect" ones - you can get them for a fiver on eBay - see item 110176244671 for an example. Cheap enough to remove each Spring. Th...
