Upper Mounting Point for seatbelt in 4-door

Post by adam-wilden »

Hi Folks,

My first post after much lurking...

My local garage are trying to fit Securon inertia seatbelts (from ESM) for me on my 1958 4-door. They are a bit perplexed!

I can remember photos showing other members here who have fitted the top mounting point just below the trafficator slot (I know this is low and can be a pain). But how?

They have suggested removing trafficator and using a magnet to drop a plate down the inside with a nut welded to it. But I'm wondering if anyone has any experience or tricks that woudl be useful.

Any photos or diagrams woudl be really helpful as I can't seem to find any anymore!

I've searched the forum but not found anything that makes this clearer. In fact a photo of the bottom mounting would be useful too? Does it go on the floor, pillar bottom or inner step plate wall (it's probably not called that at all!).

Many thanks for any help.

Adam.

I don't know about the location on a four-door, but you can buy the plates with nuts welded to them fairly cheaply. They have a little hole in one corner, the idea being that you can pop-rivet the plate to the bodywork to hold it in place and prevent it turning while you tighten the bolt up.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

This message board is like a family - you can't choose the other members!! But remember engine oil is thicker than water.
