Early cars - pre 1959 - did not have any self cancelling device.
They DO have a warning light though. Any driver should be aware of what he is doing while driving but yes, a buzzer can be fitted.

They are only "a way of life" if you don't use your car often enough. If you drive your car regularly and maintain it regularly the cylinders are long lasting even with standard fluid.
New wheel cylinders are cheap enough anyway when they ARE needed.

It should be simple enough to just replace the standard switch.
Sometimes you need to grip the T piece below it with some decent grips to stop it turning but that shouldn't be a problem.
If access is difficult you could remove the radiator?

From your photos it looks as if you'll need the mountings as well as the trafficators?
They are fairly readily available if you do a google search. I found some trafficators and the mounts easily fairly recently.

Well said Les. And that is the reason why we can no longer purchase brake master cylinder or wheel cylinders made by the original manufacturer and why Mintex brake shoes stopped being available a year or two ago etc etc

Indeed. That is a bog standard Minor 1000 passenger seat of the folding type fitted to early 2 door models. Same as mine too. I stripped both my seats down to bare frames to make the access better and then had to stretch the diaphragms and straps hard to make them fit. Keep trying. You'll get there ...

I expect you just need to stretch the rubber a bit harder. I've recently fitted new diaphragms (instead of the original straps) to my own seat bases, and new straps to the seat backs - having stripped the seats down to bare frames. 18inches would indeed be roughly the correct measurement of the base...

You can paint your car whatever colour you like of course - but Honolulu Blue was never offered as a colour option on the Morris Minor.
As has been pointed out, most "light blue" Morris Minors are Smoke Grey

I also have an old Wolf drill which I bought more than 50 years ago. Still works fine.
I expect that only needs a clean up, some new brushes perhaps and a new cable before it lasts another half century

My Minor 1000 is a nice simple earlier one which has a brass tap rather then a new fangled leak-prone valve
One less thing to go wrong - although they can sometimes seep a little coolant of course.

I couldn't agree more. Minors were exported when new to much hotter countries than ours and didn't seem to suffer. You just have to be sensible I think. Funnily enough only one of the various Minors I have owned ever suffered from fuel vapourisation. I have no idea why that car did more than others....

I must say that I don't worry about the car in this hot weather. I remember driving in 1976 with similar temperatures and I have never had a Minor overheat.
