Bell housing inspection grommet
Hello All, Finally got around to replacing the crumbling rubber blanking grommet in the bell housing - didn’t expect to find a small metal plate fitted inside the rubber recess. Not surprised to see the new one not as well moulded.... 5A9C452E-E51C-43D3-8262-8F0A473D1EC4.jpeg D4E135C0-D661-4C5C-8FF5...

Driving a Failed voluntary MOT vehicle?
Hello, Perhaps others can confirm my understanding of the requirements in this situation… Today I’ve been at a local charity classic car show, from conversations with the two car owners either side of me and from checking online later, both (1970s) cars had failed an MOT over 3 years ago (both for p...

Steering Rack Gaiter failure again !.
Hello,
Steering Rack Gaiters have only lasted just over a year (~3500 miles) So I’ve decided to try the Nitrol Rubber type from ESM - have other people found these much better ?
Kind regards.

MOT & how else would you prove roadworthy…..
Hello, Last week my everyday Traveller passed the MOT (twentieth year of passes & no advisories), then at the weekend I went to a local steam fair and was parked up for the day surrounded by a good display of cars from the 1950s onwards. I was curious as to how many others still put their car th...

Striker plate / door catch….
Hello, Would anyone have a second hand striker plate / door catch (2 door type) they’re willing to sell me ? Everyday Traveller being run on shoestring budget, so don’t want new, just one that is not as knackered and badly worn as mine ! (see photo) Thank you. Kind regards. AF0D4990-AA42-4507-8DA9-5...

Front damper mounting …
Hello,
Can someone kindly tell me what diameter and thread the four mounting internal threads are for the front dampers ?
Also am I correct to assume that there is simply a single captive plate welded behind with actually six threaded holes in ? (4 for the damper, plus unused 2)
Kind regards.

Tappet Chest cover leak….
Hello All, I’ve had a steady oil dribble from the front / rear tappet chest covers for a while now - I assume with a little manoeuvring it should be possible to change both gaskets without removing exhaust manifold & carb ? From the photos attached could you confirm I’ve got the correct gaskets ...

Re: MOT passed for another year
Hello, I’ve always had an annual MOT on my ‘68 Traveller (18 years of passing, with no advisories) It’s another pair of eyes to check on my on going restoration/repairs/maintenance. Also, the requirements to keep the vehicle roadworthy, how would I prove this if there was an accident ? However, the ...

Re: Insurance recommendations …..
Hello yet again !, Some success, just got off the phone to Classicline Insurance (as recommended from an earlier reply - thankyou!). They will offer cover (though Axa) with no other vehicle and occasional commuting - but at £415. (just for others interest, that on a 1968 Traveller, no mods, 3000 mil...

Re: Insurance recommendations …..

Re: Insurance recommendations …..
Hello again, Thank you for the replies upto now. I realised that I omitted to say that I also require part time commuting to work (rather than just cover for social, domestic and pleasure use) - which seems to compound the problem alongside not having a modern car. Would be good to hear from others ...

Hello,
Can others recommend Insurance companies to me that will accept my Morris Traveller as my only vehicle (if I don’t own, or have access, to a modern car)
Kind regards.

Another one slowly rusting…..
Hello, My regular cycle journey takes me past this Morris 1000 4 dr. Saloon, sat in a side street in Cheadle (area of Stockport), slowly rusting away. It has not moved since Sept. 2022, but has always been insured, free taxed and a council resident parking permit on the windscreen. (I’ve mentioned i...

Thankyou for all the replies - I spent a productive afternoon in the garage (with the heavy rain beating down on the galvanised sheet roof !), followed the advice, peg needed adjustment…. now operating perfectly in both directions.
Kind regards.
