Hot ignition key
After driving 10 mins, not only is the engine warmed up, but the ignition key is practically to hot to touch..! Getting a faint whiff of what I take to be burnt insulation.. The igniion barrel is old & sloppy-feeling, so I'm thinking this needs replacing. Can anyone confirm that this is the prob...

Haven't been able to try the WD40 trick yet, but thinking about it I should explain more fully the start problem I have perhaps: it's not a question of the starter going on and on, getting nowhere. The engine struggles to turns over (which is why I thought battery) - so far I've been lucky that it c...

Cold start problem
For some weeks now I've just managed to start my Morris in the morning, though once she's done that, starting is immediate at any time during the day. I suspected the battery but have been assured by my local battery company that all is well there and I don't need a new one. He mentioned possible al...

No I still have the 'hot start' problem - I'm thinking it must be something in the carb / float chamber area that I'm reluctant to take apart myself. I'm going to get someone more competent than myself to have a look. You say the oil filter isn't reusable, but I've actually reinstalled the one I fou...

The oil filter light stays lit despite having given the filter a good clean and introduced fresh oil to the engine.. And perhaps more worrying, or perhaps not - I don't know, the oil pressure light never comes on at all. Can anyone give me some guidance here as to what might be happening? Could it j...

Have topped up dashpot as suggested, thanks for the guidance re the correct level. Have removed oil filter bowl to discover a metal, presumably re-usable filter, not at all sludged up as I'd expected it to be. Could it just be that the oil being dirty generally was enough to make the oil filter ligh...

Hot Start Problem
After driving 25 miles or so in my 1098 Minor and stopping the engine I couldn't restart the car. Coming back and trying again 20 minutes later there was no problem, she started first time. This has happened a few times. Not being very experienced at solving these kind of problems, I'm hoping someon...
