misfire with engine under load

Hi, can anyone help with this problem. My engine is mis-firing badly when under load (going up a hill for instance). I've changed the plugs, condensor, rotor arm and checked the timing. The plugs were very black so I tried weakening the mixture but nothing seems to work. any ideas? many thanks spotdoc

I have had the same problem with the bushes pulling out of the attachments which is why I was wondering if they were the wrong way round. I contacted ESM and thy said that the manufacturers have now improved the design and bonded the bushes into the mounted attachment. They're going to send me a rep...

anti-roll bar kit problem

I'm fitting an ESM anti-roll bar kit.
Can anyone tell me which war round the 2 end attachments go as the instructions aren't terribly clear. Should the closed end be at the front (looking at them from under the front of the car) or should they be at the back?

thanks for any help

ital engine rebuild

can anyone help me? I'm trying to fit a modified 1098 flywheel (from ESM) to an Ital 1275 engine. The flywheel has a spigot which won't go into the "hole" at the end of the crank. There is a bush and a roller bearing that prevents it from locating. Is there something I'm missing? thanks fo...

I've seen these on ebay (#4621365663).
I was only planning to rebore to 20 thou but would it be worth going for a 60 thou bore with these pistons (provided they don't go for silly money).

thanks

ital engine pistons

I took my dismantled engine along to the local engine shop to get the bores honed. I've been told the block needs reboring. There appears to be a choice of oversize pistons including 8.8:1 types at about £20 each and 9.4:1 at about £40. My question is...will I notice a major difference with the more...

checking the health of a Marina engine

Hi, I've recently bought a 1275 Marina engine that has been hanging around for several years in someones garage. I don't know a great deal about its history but it's not seized. I've taken the head off and there are no cracks or obvious problems. The cylinder bores look alright to my untrained eye. ...

1275 marina engine?

Hi, I've just picked up a 1275 marina engine (no bypass hose so I guess it's an A+). It has no ancillaries on it. Will the 1098 dizzy fit? If not can I use one from any other 1275 engine (including metro, maestro)? Also what inlet/ exhaust manifold carb set up will fit and work well. I'm going to bu...

the problem with fitting the hub was that I stupidly failed to notice that part of the old hub bearing was left on after I pulled the old hub off  The flexi hose/ rigid hose nut union feels nice and tight on the side where I have managed to fit them but I just can't seem to get the other side ...

thanks for all your help. the hubs and calipers are on, the master cylinder is back in place with a remote brake fluid reservoir fitted. I thought I would be ready to test the disc brakes this evening but I just can't seem to connect the new flexi brake hose on the near side to the nut on the existi...

it seems to slide on easily but just not far enough on. A tiny bit of the thread is visible but not quite enough to get the hub nut on. I'm not sure if it's sticking over the inner bearing race or the seal that buts onto it.

and now for my next problem...
I've managed to assemble the hub, disc and calliper on one side but on the other side the hub won't fit far enough onto the stub axel which means that there is hardly any visible thread for putting the nut on.
Any tips on how to get it sorted??

cheers,

Tom

I think I've sorted it!!
One of the calliper brackets was slightly bent which meant it was impossible to line up the bolt holes for the caliper. It now seems to go together fine :D
I seem to be down a couple of nuts for doing the other side now...anyone know what size they might be??

I bought the kit from a bloke in Plymouth who was breaking his convertible.
I had to drill out the holes on the stub axle so I guess it is a sierra kit and not one of yours.
I'll try and get some photos uploaded if I can figure out how.

cheers,

Tom

I've redone them now. It looks alot better but when I tighten things up the holes for the caliper bolts in the 2 brackets are not quite aligned which is going to be a problem when fitting the calipers.
I'm not sure if one of the caliper brackets is slightly bent.
Any thoughts?

cheers,

Tom

I've picked up a ford based disc brake conversion kit complete with brake fluid reservoir and modified master cylinder from a bloke who was breaking his minor.
Has anyone got a copy of the fitting instructions that go with this kit or any tips on fitting them?
