The splitscreen trims have to be fitted after the screens are in.
Make sure the trims are nice and straight, any kinks/bends will make them near impossible to fit neatly.
I've found it's easy to slide the trims into place starting from the outside. Lubricate the slot in the rubber (fairy liquid?), fit both ends into the slot in the rubber & gradually slide it across the screen, keeping both ends fairly even.
Once it's all the way across, it should be possible to push the vertical side of the trims into the rubber. It the rubbber is a bit stiff, then it might need easing slightly to push the trim in fully.
Sometimes the trims just won't sit flush with the rubber, particulary in the lower corners, in which case a small amount of windscreen sealant or silicon adhesive can be used between under the trim to hold it in place.
