Raising the driver's seat

I was poised to invest in a pair of the purpose-made rubber blocks to lift the back of the driver's seat a few inches when my son told me of an idea he put in to practice on a Mini some years ago. He cannibalised a pair of G clamps and used the threaded portion to insert through a hole drilled in th...

Rubber buffers on front wing flange

I'm about to re-attach the front bumper assembly and note that the restoration manual says to first fit 2 rubber buffers to the lower flanges on the front wings. No photo is given, so I would like to know the correct position to fit these, please.

Re: Just when I was starting to get nostalgic about London....

Sorry cats-whiskers but are you saying this happened in London? As you also say the wilds of Hereford I'm guessing not. Maybe this thread should be the wilds of Hereford aren't what I'd hoped for? Fair comment MarkyB. Maybe the title was a bit ambiguous. No, this happened in Hereford and in a way I...

Just when I was starting to get nostalgic about London....

I went out to have a play with my beastie this afternoon. I thought I'd do a bit more flatting of the new paint job, so stepped outside armed with 1200 grit wet n dry and a bucket of soapy water. I removed the cover - sadly Derek has to live outside - and noticed that something didn't look quite rig...

Weather stopped play, so a catch up on Derek's progress

Hi everyone. Seems an age since I last posted, and being I cant go out to play at the mo, I thought I would at least do something Moggy related. I had a busy few months last year going from this:[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1296336178_10982 [/frame] To this:[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/m...

Re: Tyres. To DIY or not: conclusions

Well done getting the job done - no need for any personal damage though, what on earth were you doing? The tyre should slip on easily, usually the worst part is removing the old tyres, now that CAN be a struggle if they are 'welded' to the rim. It was furiously wanging the footpump to get a good ai...

Tyres. To DIY or not: conclusions

With reference to my post a while ago about being quoted £17+ each to fit my own tyres, and then deciding to have a go at fitting them myself. I'm not going to bore all and sundry with all the details, but just pass on my thoughts now the job is done. Firstly, I'm really pleased I had a go. Fitting ...

Re: Valves 7, Tyres fitted 1....

[quote="autolycus"]Just to clarify the business of valve sizes, in case anyone is interested. Hi Kevin. Yes, very interested! All is now revealed why I had such a struggle. Seems I was indeed sent valves for the larger-holed, earlier models. So, many Brownie points to you for that post. Fu...

Re: Valves 7, Tyres fitted 1....

About fitting valves: I hardly dare suggest this, but you have got the right size valves, have you? Kevin Hi. Interesting that you make that point. When my wife came to investigate the swearing coming from the garden, that was the first thing she said. When I bought them, I told the guy what vehicl...

Valves 7, Tyres fitted 1....

Well, I finally got round to having a go at fitting one of my new Toyos to the spare rim. I previously primed and top coated it and so armed with said tyre, bag of snap-in valves and fitting tools, I set to. With so many of these things, it is definitely about technique. And when it came to fitting ...

Re: And so the fun begins........

PLEASE buy (beg, borrow or steal) a set of tyre levers it will make life so much easier and, as a bonus, you have a handy set of pry bar. Hi millerman. Yep, seems reasonable to me. As it is, my local auction is on tonight and I've seen the necessary tools go through before at a decent price. And ha...

Re: And so the fun begins........

Some good advice here, as always. Thanks guys. I grasped the nettle and decided to attack what was the spare tyre. I was ready for the bead to put up a fight but it yielded quite quickly when I put the wheel flat and stood my considerable frame on the tyre. A little boinging up and down and both sid...

And so the fun begins........

I had my first dirty-hands play with my new Moggy today. The main objective was to sort out why the front grille was bent at the bottom, and also have a general look around the sharp end. After 4 hours playing, and only one cup of coffee from my wife - AND in my favourite mug (please use an old one,...

Re: Clutch Delay

Check for partially seized up pedal - does it move when you press the brake pedal ? Oil the shaft it runs on! And see if the return spring is in place ok ? I'm sure anything else will clear up with use - without dropping the box. Thanks for that prompt and reassuring reply. I will check that at fir...

Clutch Delay

When I drove my beastie - 1968 2 door - back from where I bought him, I noticed a slight delay in taking up the drive after changing gear. No problems - noise etc. - with gear selection, no slip, just the feeling that there was a momentary pause before the clutch engaged. I've checked the pedal free...

Autojumbles in the Hereford area

When I lived in Bournemouth I used to make an annual pilgrimage to the Beaulieu Autojumble. Now I've surrendered the smell of sand, sea and candy floss for the smell of - well, Hereford is a rural county - I wondered if any members could recommend an autojumble or two in the Midlands, wherein might ...

Re: NEW MEMBER - HEREFORD

Hi and welcome. My first Morris was a 1959 Peat Brown 4dr. I got from Telford. Both my wife and myself loved that car. it lasted me for just a year. it needed such a lot of welding underneath that we decided to part ex it for the 1968 Panda. I am currently trying to organise a branch run in the Car...
