A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL. I RECENTLY BECAME THE DELIGHTED OWNER OF A 1968, 2 DOOR SALOON IN PEAT BROWN. I AM KICKING MY HEELS TILL THE WARMER WEATHER WHEN No. 1 SON IS GOING TO RESPRAY IT FOR ME IN YE OLDE ENGLISH WHITE. THE PREVIOUS OWNER CARRIED OUT REPAIRS TO THE UNDERSIDE AND FITTED A COUPLE OF FIBREGLASS WINGS, SO I'M LEFT TO HAVING FUN PLAYING WITH THE MORE ACCESSIBLE STUFF. THE ONLY ONE BUMMER (SORRY VICAR) IS THAT THE LAST BLOKE GOT BROWN PAINT ON THE UPHOLSTERY. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TO REMOVE IT - MANY GOOD TIPS GLEANED FROM THIS SITE - INCLUDING STUFF THAT WOULD GIVE MOST RESTORERS A HEART ATTACK. BUT I HAVE NOW SETTLED FOR USING VINYL PAINT, AGAIN WHEN THE WEATHER WARMS UP. (NO DOUBLE GARAGE WITH CENTRAL HEATING SADLY). SO, LOOKING FORWARD TO BECOMING PART OF THE MOGGY-LOVING FRATERNITY OVER THE LONG WINTER EVENINGS, WHEN THERE'S ONLY A WIFE AND AN UGLY SPANIEL TO LOOK AT.

And just a tip, but posting a message entirely in capital letters looks as though you are shouting at us

Hi Dan. Thank you for the welcome. The dog was a mistake. I thought my wife said would you like an adjustable spanner for Christmas; turns out she said mal-adjusted spaniel. I'm gonna try and post a pic of my new toy. Title would be "a moggy on a moggy" for obvious reasons. If this one works, I'll take one of my front grille. Just doesn't look right at the mo. And if anyone knows any new swear words, I've run out of them trying to undo the gearbox filler plug. May swap the dog for a thermal lance.<br>

Hi. I take your point about Peat brown hiding many sins. I also feel it may be rare because it wasn't popular. Certainly her indoors doesn't like it. Myself, I've always liked Almond green or Trafalgar blue. Maybe a little more discussion on colour is called for. You know the one; my wife says "It's going to be white" and I reply "Oh, alright love". As to the paint on the upholstery, the guy did a good job. Dawbs on both parts of rear seat, door cards and head lining. Ironic that he missed the front seats, cos both covers are split and need replacing. Tried wipes, white spirit, thinners, acetone, nitromors
, you name it.

Many thanks for all additional welcomes. Yes, the car is definitely Peat Brown. And judging by the comments, it'a popular colour choice. Or is it all in the name? I'm thinking of changing my name by deed poll to Pete Brown to see if I become popular and successful. After all, life hasn't been a barrel of laughs as Armand Greene.
