Hi Kevin. No, I seem to be well equipped with tools, including whitworth sockets and spanners. The plug seems extremely tight so I think I'm going to invest in a blow torch and try a bit of heat. I'm sure it'll come in handy on lots more occasions in the future, including her indoors borrowing it to defrost a gateau that she forgot to take out of the freezer.Kevin wrote:As no one else has asked what is the problem, are you using the correct tool.cats-whiskers wrote: I've run out of them trying to undo the gearbox filler plug. Re: NEW MEMBER - HEREFORD
Hi and welcome. My first Morris was a 1959 Peat Brown 4dr. I got from Telford. Both my wife and myself loved that car. it lasted me for just a year. it needed such a lot of welding underneath that we decided to part ex it for the 1968 Panda.
I am currently trying to organise a branch run in the Cardiff - Chepstow - Tintern - Monmouth area in April. your welcome to join us and anyone else that can make it.[frame]

Great. As it's a club branch event, out Chairman Ray Simkiss would like us to start from our meeting place "The Barn" nr. Cardiff. our intention last year was to travel along the A48 and pick up anyone along the way who wanted to join in. If you want to click on the link below you could see that we only managed three Morris's. This years event will be on "National Drive It Day" Sunday April 25th.

By posting this event on the forum other like minded people have shown interest. I will be taking numbers in a few months time.

Hi, and thank you for the welcome and invite. Looking ahead, I think my Moggy will be off the road at the time of your run, in preparation for a little restoration / respray during May. However, I look forward to meeting you and others at future events.santadawes wrote:Hi and welcome. My first Morris was a 1959 Peat Brown 4dr. I got from Telford. Re: NEW MEMBER - HEREFORD
I'm sure members whose cars are off the road could still come along in their 'Daily Drives'.
Might be worth starting a new thread for this event nearer the time ;)

Quiet right too. last year we had two non branch members attend and another two entrants who drove there daily drives as their vehicles were not ready.
It is hoped that we would have other branch members there this year.
Hi Mat. I had received an entry form for Newports tredeger House for the13th June. but am I right in thinking it's also Barry's F.O.T. on the same day. if so I will be going to Barry's

Not sure what day the Barry Transport Festival is this year. I used to know when it was every year as I was a volunteer at the railway there but as the Vale Council decided to pass the operating of the line over to another company I'm a bit out of the loop. I will try and find out though.
If the Barry event is the same day as the event at Tredegar House I'll also be going to Barry as I think it's a more varied event with the bus trips etc.

Re: NEW MEMBER - HEREFORD
Before owning a Morris I wanted to to Newport, but ever since owning one it always clashed with the Avon Branch Rally and I had gone there. Now that's it's changed date to early June and because there's over 2000 cars there, I feel that for the paying public would many vehicles to look around. Barry, on the other hand, is a free event and offer rides to the beach etc. so I will be off to Barry. Hope to see you there.
