Morris Minor Owners Club

I want to turn the Morris on its side onto an old mattress to work on the underbody. Engine, gearbox and prop shaft have been removed. Any advice on how to do this? Should I remove the door, wings, anything else? Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't use an old mattress, it won't be long before you have a Morris Minor BBQ .

I've used a few old tyres but only on a stripped body shell (no doors/wings). I found that the bottom of the centre pillar on a 4 door is susceptible to damage when unprotected on it's side .
You might need more protection if leaving the panels on & it will be harder to roll with the extra weight.
Do you have enough room in your garage to turn the car over ? - you'll need around 2 car widths to tip it on it's side.

good point about the bbq. Garage is small, am planning to take it out rolling it over onto some kind of home made dolly thing (with old tyres on) and sliding it back in. When you say damage to the base of the pillar, not sure what you mean, did you find a way of preventing it?

ello mate ,before i made a rollover jig i was going to roll it onto a thick sheet of plywood with tyres on it, and the ply would be sitting on 4 or 5 , 4 foot lenghts of scaffold tubes to roll it in the garage,which im sure would be easy,the bare shell is light really,steve

The very bottom bit that kicks out (protrudes). I put a tyre under that area to support that sensitive bit.
