Cooling System

Post by John Rose »

Hi

I am about to clean out the cooling system on TTO 758H, and need to remove the engine drain tap, because when open, no water emerges! I suppose there is a blockage of sediment behind it. Access to the tap seems very restricted - does anyone have experience on how to remove that tap easily, please?

Hello John
I had the same blockage issue, but found no problem with a open ended spanner. Once 'cracked', mine turned easily by hand.

if you search the forum for variations of 'engine coolant drain tap' you'll find loads of old topics about it over the years.

I removed mine with an open ended spanner, can’t recall it being difficult to reach. Perhaps you need a shorter spanner if there is some obstruction on your vehicle.
