Handbrake Cables

Hi all.
Hopefully this is easily answered..
We have recently replaced all the brake cylinders, shoes, defective pipe, fluid and the brakes seem to be working. A bit of bother with the bleeding but got there in the end.
Tomorrow I am replacing both handbrake cables. One is almost worn through so I thought it would be prudent to replace both.
Parts have been delivered by ESM. Does anyone know if the new cables need greased? I would have assumed not being new parts. I havent seen these yet as they are at my Dads house. However he has looked at these and has posed the question.
If they do need greased is it advisable to grease before or after fitting? Im guessing some grease on exposed parts after fitting would be a good idea.
Thanks in advance
Charlie.
