I'm vaguely aware later Minis and maybe USA export MGBs were fitted with control systems that piped the fuel tank vent and float chamber vents through a charcoal canister and back into the breathing system of the engine through reduced diameter hose (7/64ths?!). Since reverting from a HiF38 back to HS2 - which has a float bowl with just one take-off and a small hole to vent it straight into atmosphere behind a little plate - I've noticed the smell, and I doubt the atmosphere appreciates the unburnt hydrocarbons either!
This got me thinking that if I picked up one of the charcoal canisters and found a float bowl lid with two take-offs I could at the very least pipe it into that, even if I didn't bother returning it to a rocker cover vent. But I'm not sure if there would be any convenient way to vent the fuel tank (and swap to a non-vented filler cap).
Any thoughts? Clothes-peg on nose instead?
