Help.
Ser 11 going great all summer BUT on a run today & almost home we had a sudden misfire. Nursed home & began checking. Removing both No1 & 2 leads made no diff to engine. Running on 3 & 4. Good spark at plugs which were dry . Points badly pitted so replaced & set to 15 thou. Vac adv seems to ok. No difference. Removed air cleaner & found the engine to be spitting back thro carb when reved. Had to stop to be fed. Back tomorrow-- Check timing or any other ideas much appreciated.
Regards,
Bill

Sounds suspiciously like head gasket gone between 2 and 3 A compression test will show if it is.

I agree with Panky ... although I think he means cylinders 1&2. Off with its head

Hi,
Starting handle test this am & nothing on 1 & 2. 3 & 4 ok. Water drained & head off and yes - gasket blown. Now for clean up & rebuild.

Do check head (and possibly deck) for straightness. Better to get the head skimmed now than have to do it after the next head gasket fails.....
