No, they need to go on the windscreen.
I think there is a design that doubles as a tax disc holder.

I've got this type of aerial which clips to the window and works well:

There were some back in the day which clipped onto the roof gutter by the front windscreen and I suppose all you would have to do is run a wire say through a gap in the quarterlight or something.

Yes, you can fit them under dash. I had one on my TR6 and it was excellent. Make sure you power the amp and earth it properly then just stick the antenna somewhere out of sight....

Reception was perfect inside the TR - Don't know if the roof of the Minor would effect it though?

It will if it still has a metal roof.
The body acts as a Faraday cage which blocks external signals.

I have fitted these aerials to both my Morris and my '60's Volvo. They work perfectly when fitted to the top of the windscreen behind the rear-view mirror and are fairly inconspicuous when in place. You can earth the amp.to the mirror fixing screw and "lose" the other cables behind the w/screen seal.RadioWorld on ebay is the place to look and I would recommend the one around the £5 mark rather than the "cheapie".

Dont drill holes in the van, take Alec Issigonis advice, dont fit "domestic appliances" to cars.
Sing, "little dolly daydream", "ten green bottles", "she was a sweet little dicky bird" or whatever takes your fancy and the kids if you teach them the words will remember the journeys forever, dont let the little blighters bring I pods etc.
Or just talk, especially to yourself.
Happiest days of my life in dads sage green moggie convertible

Nice!

At least you can listen to FM and Pick of the Pops until the stupid government switch the FM signal off.
