Re: AERIAL
No, they need to go on the windscreen.
I think there is a design that doubles as a tax disc holder.

Re: AERIAL
I've got this type of aerial which clips to the window and works well: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-car-w ... 3f17200754

Re: AERIAL
There were some back in the day which clipped onto the roof gutter by the front windscreen and I suppose all you would have to do is run a wire say through a gap in the quarterlight or something.
Re: AERIAL
thanks. i was hoping to have it hidden under the dashMarkyB wrote:No, they need to go on the windscreen.

Re: AERIAL
Yes, you can fit them under dash. I had one on my TR6 and it was excellent. Make sure you power the amp and earth it properly then just stick the antenna somewhere out of sight....

Re: AERIAL
Reception inside the bodyshell will be poor....... and heavily subject to all manner of interference......

Re: AERIAL
Reception was perfect inside the TR - Don't know if the roof of the Minor would effect it though?bmcecosse wrote:Reception inside the bodyshell will be poor....... and heavily subject to all manner of interference......

Re: AERIAL
It will if it still has a metal roof.
The body acts as a Faraday cage which blocks external signals.

yes it still has its metal roof, so it wont be such a good idea to fit under dashMarkyB wrote:It will if it still has a metal roof.

Re: AERIAL
I have fitted these aerials to both my Morris and my '60's Volvo. They work perfectly when fitted to the top of the windscreen behind the rear-view mirror and are fairly inconspicuous when in place. You can earth the amp.to the mirror fixing screw and "lose" the other cables behind the w/screen seal.RadioWorld on ebay is the place to look and I would recommend the one around the £5 mark rather than the "cheapie".
Re: AERIAL
aerial and radio now fitted. placed it behind rear view mirror., and its not to conspicuous, and to my amazement it works a treat. thanks guys for the advise iam well chuffed

Re: AERIAL
Dont drill holes in the van, take Alec Issigonis advice, dont fit "domestic appliances" to cars.samuria wrote:i want to fit a radio in my van!!! but dont want to drill holes in the wings or the roof to mount an aerial. a mate told me about some that fitted to the screen like a sun shade ???? where can i get one? or are there any other type i could use?
Sing, "little dolly daydream", "ten green bottles", "she was a sweet little dicky bird" or whatever takes your fancy and the kids if you teach them the words will remember the journeys forever, dont let the little blighters bring I pods etc.
Or just talk, especially to yourself.

Re: AERIAL
Nice!
At least you can listen to FM and Pick of the Pops until the stupid government switch the FM signal off.
