Hi all, having trouble getting petrol to reach the carb.Taking off the tank line and putting a short line in a gallon can the pump primes instantly. So I assume the tank pick up is gummed up in some way.The car is a `52 MM.Not run for some time but have had this problem since I acquired the car many years ago.Now trying to get her back on the road.Any suggestions would be very welcomeThanks,John.

Have you tried blowing back though the the fuel line with an air line?

I had that problem once with a car that had been left in a barn for over twenty years. The fix was messy, smelly and time consuming. I disconnected the fuel line at the tank and worked a stiff piece of wire up into the opening to ream out the hardened, varnish-like mess that was blocking it. Everything was fine after that.

Darrell, that would seem to be the only way.I was hoping for a quick fix but looks like that`s another job to add to the list.Mine`s called Maggie too!

You'd best siphon out as much fuel as you can before you begin or you may get a bath :-).

Actually it's probably worth removing the tank completely and having it profe$$ionally cleaned.
