relay in boot?

Is this safe thing to do?
It is very close to the fuel tank and a spark creating relay might not be a good idea? or am i being overly cautious?
I currently am planning to a relay into my sub woofer setup as just relying on the remote on function drains the battery over the period of a few days? This would involve utilising the switched feed to power a relay that interrupts the power supply to the amplifier, i feel this is quite an eloquent solution as no extra cables have to be run.
Also i am adding a large reversing light on the rear of my car, (after having a bit of a nightmare reversing back up a farmers track in the dark this summer) so would situate the relay in the same area.
