control box problem

hi all how do i ajust my control box safely my dynamo throwing out duce but nothings going to battery ive turned ajusters an cutout not alot but it didnt make difference how far can i turn it or how can i tell it hasnt already cut out[frame]

hi no i havent as far as i can tell its always been a neg earth everything set for neg earth

Well, except for a very few at the end of production (I think), all Minors came from the factory positive-earth. BMC -- would the changeover between pos. and neg. affect the control box, or would remaining on neg. for a long time affect it? Or both?
It could be that the control box has just given up the ghost. Things do that.
Benson, has the control box in your Minor got screw-terminals or push-on terminals? In either case -- and let's get some more info before you buy a new one -- a new 'regulator box' from ESM is £19.

The Reg box doesn't care about polarity - but the dynamo does. With a polarity swap - it won't charge until the dynamo has been repolarised with a 'flash' from the battery.

hi all i conected the dynamo to my battery charger for 15 minutes before i fitted it it spun perfect, ive tested dynamo while cars running an its def thowing out power, The regulator has push on type connectors,[frame]

But - did you get the polarity right when you connected it to the battery charger ? Maybe you have reverse polarised it!

hi all thanks for your valued input but i took another route ive changed over to an alternator an itsdone the trick batter charging

also changed to electronic ignition so jobs a good 1 thanks Benson1[frame]

Alternator -excellent idea. Leccy Ignition - not my favourite, but as long as it's working.......

not driven the car with new leccy but it seems to be ok just tidy it up im hoping to get it booked in for mot next week then think about spray job[frame]
