Fantastic explanation there - well done finding it. Just to check back with the OP - have you changed the polarity of the car?

Re: control box problem
Well, except for a very few at the end of production (I think), all Minors came from the factory positive-earth. BMC -- would the changeover between pos. and neg. affect the control box, or would remaining on neg. for a long time affect it? Or both?
It could be that the control box has just given up the ghost. Things do that.
Benson, has the control box in your Minor got screw-terminals or push-on terminals? In either case -- and let's get some more info before you buy a new one -- a new 'regulator box' from ESM is £19.

The way to a man's heart may be making food, but the way to my heart is buying me car parts!
Come read about my Minor at An American Moggie.

Re: control box problem
The Reg box doesn't care about polarity - but the dynamo does. With a polarity swap - it won't charge until the dynamo has been repolarised with a 'flash' from the battery.

Re: control box problem
hi all i conected the dynamo to my battery charger for 15 minutes before i fitted it it spun perfect, ive tested dynamo while cars running an its def thowing out power, The regulator has push on type connectors,[frame]

Re: control box problem
But - did you get the polarity right when you connected it to the battery charger ? Maybe you have reverse polarised it!

Re: control box problem
hi all thanks for your valued input but i took another route ive changed over to an alternator an itsdone the trick batter charging
also changed to electronic ignition so jobs a good 1 thanks Benson1[frame]
