Post by oldmod1968 »

Hi,

Being lazy here and also try to build on others experience. I am using gas mix and assuming metal is good has anyone welded using the Clarke and can you remember approx settings?

Many thanks

It depends on so many different factors, you should really inspect the back of the weld for penetration if at all possible.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

I think I generally use the max-1 power setting to get adequate penetration without blowing holes and wire speed around 7/10 if I remember correctly. The thicker chassis sections will probably take full power. That's with gasless operation though.

Best approach is to practise on some scrap of the same thickness first though. + what Alex said.
