Save a "PANDA" (Police Minor)

To All,

Here is an example of a "PANDA" car that seems to have fallen foul of the scrappage scheme so I am informed. It showed up during my search for a SV engine with a telephone call directly from the garage. It is in Lancashire at Hills Motors contact Scott Bond (scott@hills-motors.co.uk) - not sure if anyone is interested in saving this seemingly good example of a British classic and the clubs stances on these matters. Maybe someone locally can pursue. Many thanks and hoping it generates some interest from the membership. Please give it some serious thought.....spike.
Image

Image
This car looks far to good to be scrapped and must be worth more than £2000. Possibly it can be saved before the paperwork is processed. Otherwise it might be another one that needs a home in a museum. Can someone local check it out?

It's really only £1000 for 'scrappage' - that's all the 'Government' contributes. The other £1000 comes from the car manufacturer - and I'm sure to get the sale they will (in fact -I KNOW they will - having just negotiated such a deal) knock that £1000 off to get the sale without any scrappage deal. So they really only need £1000 to tear up the scrappage paperwork.

If I had the space I'd be on the phone! At the moment I have to sell one to make room for the van :( so no chance of adding another to the collection.

Do we know if anyone has contacted the guy regarding this? It's a LONG way from me but I would hate to see it in the crusher!

They gut emailed back very promptly. The car can only be sold as parts as the shell/chassis must be destroyed :( so too late. What a waste!

It can still be donated/sold to a museum or somewhere but cannot be licenced for use on public roads. So if someone has a spare garage?
There is a museum in Calne, Wiltshire which might be able to give it a home.

Hi Carlos and guys. Being a member of PC-UK I sent them this link. They seem to think that this is not an origional "Panda" but a good repo. It is thought that the Morris Panda was out and replaced with the Anglia. Then in 1970ish they changed to the Mk1 escourt. PC-UK would therefore be unable to use, store or display this fine looking Morris. It's such a shame. If I had the room I would have it in a flash.

Almost all minor police cars were H or J registered, you'd have to look at the cars actual history to prove it wasn't an original.
