uprated torsion bars

hi can anybody tell me where i can get uprated torsion bars for my moggy. as the current ride height is unacceptable

In what way is the ride height unacceptable? If the front end has sagged down, check the crossmember isn't rotten.

If you are to use the marina van \ pick up torsion bars you will need adaptors to fit them.. the only people that i know that do them are ESM and they do not have any in stock or are they are not intending to make any ( last time I spoke to them ) so i ended up buying new ones from brum moggy centre @ £300 (ouch!)

It is not clear if the car is too high or too high for your prefeered look, if it is just high to normal you can drop them on the standard bars within reason, to go any lower than 1.5 inch below standard you will need uprated bars or ( and these where i am expecting to be corrected ) you can go for coil over shocks and do away with the torsion bars totally.

i too am thinking of uprated torsion bars, purely because i get scared with the Fiat weight! anyone post a link as to where to get them?

The standard torsion bars are fine - same bar was used on heavier Wolsleley/Riley 1500 cars ! If you really want 'stiffer' front suspension - you could always add coil spring units. Would surely be much less expensive than the above.

Just don't go for the 100% uprated ones as they tend to cause horrible pitching in the suspension, especially on uneven or bouncy country roads.50% is as much as you need, allied to a good damper set up.

thanks guys really suprised by the help never used anything like this before.sorry i was a vauge about what i wanted to do.i want to lower my car more than one spline and figured stiffer torsion bars was the way forward without expensive coilovers(i hope)

I wouldn't go more than 1 spline to be honest, it'll only corrupt the front end geomerty and give awful handling. Coil overs will similary corrupt the geometry but at least you can adjust this back to what can be a better set up, otherwise very difficult with std torsion bars.

A well known modifier sells a coil over kit for 740 pounds and it does not look a simple weekend DIY job to do, where as torsion bars and dampers will cost around 400 pounds and can be fitted with the minimal tools in a weekend provided you can use spanners and an angle grinder.

I have no doubt that the coil over set up is better but there is a cost consideration.
