I made good progress this afternoon, all pistons are now in, and the con-rod bolts and main bearing set screws are torqued up...i have done the big end lock tabs, but not the main bearings as there doesnt seem to be much to bend over, is it vital that they are bent over?
I will be putting the sump back on tommorrow, i have put new cork seals in the sump....i assume the ends have to be cut to sit flush with the top of the gasket face, also should the cork be left dry or have oil in it? Also, when using the new gasket for the sump, should i use any kind of instant gasket or sealer?

The cork seals that go over the crank arn't cut flush! They are meant to be cut to protrude a certain amount, but I cant remember how much

I normally use Blue Hylomer

Just as well i havent cut them then! I think its actually in the manual.....

I have hylomar blue, so ill use a bit of that.

Leave the cork seals proud by about 3/16". main tabs - if present should be bent over - but Loctite is a good idea anyway!

3/16 = 0.1875
0.1875*25.4 = 4.7625mm

No such thing on a Moggie.
But in case 3/16ths = 0.1875 inches or 4.7625 mm and I don't know how you will measure that unless you have an EEC Rule

Right, its got to protrude by 5mm then......thats gonna be interesting to try and do!!

It's an approx size - don't get over anxious about it!
