Does anyone know what colours were available to have your mog done in back in 1957?
According to my serial number my car should be Dark grey.....but what kind of dark grey??

Thanks,

Turquoise
Cream
Black
Clarendon Grey
Birch Grey
Dark Green

They were the '57 colour choices, I think clarendon grey is quite a light shade so I assume yours is Birch grey.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Clarendon grey is a dark shade. Grey with a hint of blue. Like a RAF blue or slate grey really.
This might help:

Yokon grey is similar but that's not listed so i'd plump for clarendon after all.

Yup my minor is Yukon grey, slightly darker than Clarendon but quite similar but it was used from 1960-62 so if you want to be original then stick with Clarendon grey.

Clarendon Grey is a very nice colour, suits the (early) Minor quite well

Goes to show how taste varies.....i cant stand the colour at all!

Im very tempted to do a BRG Moggy!

That would be different, but would fit with the performance mods you are planning. BRG is a nice traditional colour, so would look good, I think! BRG- hmm, much nicer than painting the car a "modern" colour which can soon look dated, IMHO.

Much better to be classic than dated! I like the idea, go for it! :-)

Aren't there a lot of different shades of BRG?

I think it would have to be the BRG that the midget came in!

Yes there are loads of shades of BRG. My 1975 Triumph Stag is British Leyland BRG and we had all sorts of trouble when we came to respray it a few years ago. Paint code is 75, but factors initially supplied Jaguar BRG paint code 74 (slightly blue tinge). Then there is Brooklands which is a slightly lighter BRG, to say nothing of Bentley BRGs and the list goes on and on....
