Exhaust banging

Hi there,
I am now the proud owner of a 2 door 1969 Minor 1000. It has a few squeaks and rattles and the biggest one is the exhaust. The exhaust was banging/rubbing on the rear damper arm. I took it to an exhaust centre and they heated up the curved pipe over the axle and bent it upwards slightly. The problem now is it keeps banging off the centre crossmember/torsion bar every time I go over a bump. Should I fit another bracket near this or try to get the exhaust aligned a bit better? Any other suggestions gratefully accepted. :D

Adjusting the length of the straps may be what is needed.
I've had this a few times and in theory the clearance to the crossmember can also be improved by undoing the manifold clamp and shoving it round a bit. However in practise it's best to leave the manifold clamp alone if it's not leaking!

The shape of some single piece exhausts can be very poor, and therefore a bit of an extra bend near the crossmember can be useful, but not so easy to 'DIY'

Mine used to do the same. Knocked against the shocker arm or the floor above the diff.
What I've done is use different length straps and a combination of two clamps on the back to get just the right height so it doesnt bang on either.
It really is trial and error.... its a combination of saggy suspension and a badly bent (at the factory!) exhaust in my case.

Thanks for the tips. I put it into a garage and they seem to have cured it from rubbing on the damper arm. Now it just knocks off the cetre crossmember!
