Anyone tell me what thickness / guage of metal was originally used to build the LCV chassis ?
Thanks.

That is a lot thinner than I though.
I suppose it accounts for the fact that a lot of chassis are / have suffering from rot.
I was expecting at least 14 or better still 12 gauge.

I think the Henric chassis' were 16gauge.

Do you know if the Henric chassis rails were pressed sections, as original, or fabricated out of flate plate ?

From memory the straight bits at the front and middle looked like a folded U section with a plate welded on top. The curvy bits over the axle and back had a bottom welded to to sides (done very well) and flat plate on top. Fitting was very good, with no problems. They really looked very professional and If I could buy another I would.....

That's interesting as it fits in a little with what I've got flowing around my mind - using all the ready made repair panels available and fabricating the rest.
Anyone a link to what a Henric chassis looks like ?
I've been downloading every picture I can find on web sites of the original type chassis but I believe the Henrics was also slightly different in that it was more angular.

I think the bits over the rear axle and the curved tube for the front spring mounts would be difficult.

Pretty much like the two pics in this ebay ad...

If you want I can try and take some pics of areas of interest but won't be until the weekend.

Actually the curved tube is easy.
I know of a local company who put the item into a copying machine and can then CNC duplicate the shape.
Main use is custom exhaust pipes but no reason why the tube on a Minor couldn't be made.
The bits over the rear axle are a litlte more difficult but again not impossible to fabricate.
I "know a man" with a CNC plasma cutter who could, in thoery, cut the flat plate to correct sizes for welding. Difficult aspect would be making a jig to hold them in place.
This is where the LMC Hadrian jigs would be wonderful or they could be persuaded to run off a limited number of new chassis to Henric spec.

I also have a 'curved tube' I can chop out, if you're after one.

hello andrew
well got my van now see sig
any way the rear left hand side (looking from the back) the chassis has a 3" bit of rot, can you cut me off a 20 inch peice from the back if its good and the rest is bad

I think it's pretty bad - the bit immediately over the axle certainly is, top plate gone, but I'll check with tape measure in hand tomorrow. Just the rear 20 inches?
