Van chassis metal guage / thickness
Anyone tell me what thickness / guage of metal was originally used to build the LCV chassis ?
Thanks.

From memory the straight bits at the front and middle looked like a folded U section with a plate welded on top. The curvy bits over the axle and back had a bottom welded to to sides (done very well) and flat plate on top. Fitting was very good, with no problems. They really looked very professional and If I could buy another I would.....

That's interesting as it fits in a little with what I've got flowing around my mind - using all the ready made repair panels available and fabricating the rest.M25VAN wrote:From memory the straight bits at the front and middle looked like a folded U section with a plate welded on top. Anyone a link to what a Henric chassis looks like ?
I've been downloading every picture I can find on web sites of the original type chassis but I believe the Henrics was also slightly different in that it was more angular.

I think the bits over the rear axle and the curved tube for the front spring mounts would be difficult.

If you want I can try and take some pics of areas of interest but won't be until the weekend.

Actually the curved tube is easy.
I know of a local company who put the item into a copying machine and can then CNC duplicate the shape.
Main use is custom exhaust pipes but no reason why the tube on a Minor couldn't be made.
The bits over the rear axle are a litlte more difficult but again not impossible to fabricate.
I "know a man" with a CNC plasma cutter who could, in thoery, cut the flat plate to correct sizes for welding. Difficult aspect would be making a jig to hold them in place.
This is where the LMC Hadrian jigs would be wonderful or they could be persuaded to run off a limited number of new chassis to Henric spec.![]()
