king pins

Hi I noticed certain suppliers sell kingpins for 8cwt LCVs what's different on these kingpins and how am I supposed to recognise an 8cwt kingpin? Thanks

Some Kingpins have a beefier steering arm. It could well be that, as the kingpin taper is a bigger size.

The book says that the 8cwt Austin and Morris LCVs had strengthened suspension uprights,steering levers, and torsion bars. It also says that the
uprated steering levers are unique to each model and are not interchangeable
with earlier LCVs or cars.

Sorry, I have no info' on identification of these items. The most common
wide wheels are the LP917 type( if that is what you meant).

But unless you actually intend to carry 8cwt regularly - standard king pins will be fine.

you could recognise by the thicker steering arm...?
When I had this problem (got a replacement kingpin for a traveller only to find the previous steering arm didn't fit) I was guessing that the bigger one was 8cwt van, however the kingpins didn't have any identifying codes - they did have a noticably bigger hole for the steering arm tho!

Which book Willie? I new about the uprights and steering arms but not the torsion bars.
I have a spare pair of uprights but they have no markings on them at all. The arms however are marked -
ST1275 MFB2 EN110 and ST1276 MFA5 EN110
The Van parts list show two part no's for the uprights and arms but it's not exactly clear whether they are both of differing sizes to the saloons etc. If someone has the saloon etc part no's we could compare. If interested I can measure the size of the opening in the uprights......

My van has one of each! a van one on the drivers side and a car one on the passengers, the steering arm taper is much bigger on the van one apart from that theres not much difference that I can see.

on the front end, it was only the steering arms that were thicker, hence a larger hole in the upright, the apart from that the upright is the same, tie bars and torsion bars are all the same.
on the back end the only difference were the springs, same number on 6 abd 8 cwt, but the 8cwt ones were thicker leaves
