the rear light should be the same fittings as the ealy ones and cant you weld up the 2 holes on the front and grind the weld down the skim with filler

You should be able to fit the front ones without too much hassle, I fitted the small sidelights to my traveller that has 1098 type wings without welding up the holes. I made a plate up to fit behind the hole and the rubber body should just be big enough to cover the hole in the wing. The rubber body you buy now has to have the outer edge trimmed off to suit this type of light[frame]Image[/frame]

As for the back, again you can make them fit but they will need to sit higher up than standard to cover the holes in the later type wing.[frame]Image[/frame]

The green car has original type wings and shows how they were a wee bit further down originally, but hardly noticeable.[frame]Image[/frame]

Thanks David, it's just frustrating when you think something is going to be realitively easy and it never turns out that way...
Cheers

Thanks David, Not as easy a job as I first thought but the finished look was well worth it, who knows perhaps I might even enter her in the odd show or two.

07/01/11 Alas only the three of us made it but when you think only 32 are known to be taxed a 10% turnout is quite good.

Looks like the previous owner put the later type front wings on with the larger indicator hole, the earlier ones with the small hole are very hard to find. That is why there's still a bit of a hole under the original sidelights/indicators you've fitted. I agree with you, the original ones are much nicer. BMC actually sold a flashing indicator kit in the early 1960's that used the original front sidelights and rubber mounted rear indicators on the back wings, so it's not really removing a worthwhile modification, because it's being replaced with something period that looks much better, IMO.

Another thing I have noticed is the modern reproduction plates with a smaller font to the originals by the look of it. A set of Ace plates www.ace-plates.co.uk would set it off great :D

If you don't mind me asking, were did you get your number plates from?

mine are needing to be replaced and yours look just right for a 1961 minor (like mine).

Hi there, I ordered them from http://www.chestnut-registrations.co.uk, they have a section specifically for the Morris Minor as the rear plate is slightly curved and a different shape from the front.Hope this helps, cheers Neil
