Headlight beam patterns are so good these days that fog lights are no improvement over dipped headlights. If you still use separate bulbs or sealed beam lights then good fog lights would be useful, not that we get much fog these days, so much for all the pollutants and greenhouse gasses our little Morris Minors are supposedly chucking out.

Good quality 'fog' lights with a wide flat beam work extremely well in falling snow and guess what? we still get snow in some parts of the country

I know you're not going to believe this - its snowing now (16.00 02/05/10) I'm going to emigrate - do they still do assisted passage to Australia?

Fraid not, and you can't get transported for sheep rustling any more. Besides they have bush fires instead of snow.
