Ok - so if it's from another Minor then yes - it can be used - provided you have a 'ribbed case' gearbox. Otherwise some mods will be required!

It appears to already have a 1098 in so either it has the ribbed case box from a 1098 or has been modified to suit the 948 box.

I appreciate the input. Now it seems I have a seized 1098cc. I'll check the transmission for the "ribs". The donor car has a complete drive train that I will be looking to buy if it drives as your man claims. I was also thinking about giving him an offer for the convertible as it sits because they can be desirable too. It may be in better shape as well... The traveller body will remain unchanged, but the mechanical aspect of the rebuild will be "slightly" modified...Oh well, it was a nice dream anyway.
