I think that we all have a small measure of safety simply in the minor's own starting system - I've only had mine a couple of months and already several times I've been parked on a friends drive and they've popped out to move it to get at their own car, only to come straight back in because they can't work out how to make it go! "But I turned the key - it didn't start it! What is with that?! You don't have an immobiliser do you?!"

It would be less reassuring if it wasn't the very same friend each time...

a simple kill switch and a crook lock is about the best you can do. Visible is better as it makes them think twice and they move on to an easier target.

I have a device bolted through the floor just infront of the passenger seat which locks around the gearstick, I did put photo's on the site and we all discussed this but I can't find the thread as it was a couple of years ago
I never use it anyway as the Moggys well insured

crook locks are a totsal waste of time
the theives just smash the steering wheel up doing more damage if they cant get them off

i know it happened on a fiesta

With an old Polo I fitted the alarm siren INSIDE the car (actually used the speaker grill in centre of dash).
If I forgot to disarm it used to be very painful and there was no way you could stay inside the car for more than a few seconds with it going off.
It wasn't so much the volume but the "pulse" that seemd to drill inside your head.
