thanks for that., I'll have to wait till morning till I check now... mmm., the indicators don't work, but the heater does come on now you mention it... on the indicators I have two wires that don't have a home, they are black and the other one is brown??, where do these go., all the other went into snap connectors with wires the other side that are the same colours..

some indicator stalks had 4, 5 and 6 wires, depending on type and model.
is the wire just brown or green and brown

Difficult to say from here! there are NO brown wires on the standard Minor
flasher circuit and the only black leads are on the rear flasher units from one side of the bulb contacts to the chassis. Re the 'heater switch is working'
that is fed from the 'b' terminal on the voltage stabilizer too so at least the
supply is ok to there. It is always worth checking the bullet connectors which
are scattered all over the car as they can go dis' quite easily. They can always benefit from a clean-up.

just brown., could it be something to do with the horn??? or perhaps the green lamp on the end of the stalk or (grasping at straws now) just nothing..?

Re the flashers, the flasher unit itself is fed via a Green wire from fuse 2
to the 'B' terminal, the 'L' terminal goes, via a green/brown lead to the flasher
switch and the 'P' terminal goes via a light green lead to the flasher warning
light. If the Green wire is also dead on this circuit then you have a definite
problem at the fuse or its holder. Re the 'Brown' wire it is possible that this
is a Horn lead which is actually Purple but can fade to look brown!

- on the top of the speedo , think it's the voltage stabilizer, when you pull it out of the dash looking at it from above., the connector on the right has got a little wire to it and this connects to the top of my main light switch>? is this right??

yippey-da-doo-dah!! After a restless night dreaming about my car and trying to wire the misses, apparantly I was sleep talking too., kept saying "brown".., "brown" god only knows what I was trying to do there eh!! anyway first light was out with the car, I have changed the 3 green wires so now they go to B on the voltage stabalizer, connected the black stalk wire up to earth wires., fiddled under the hood at the fusebox and bashed it a bit.

Now., I have the windscreen wipers working, the jetwash working, the lights working, the indicators now working, both sides, panel light working and the heater still working.
I have one brown wire still remaining without a home., if this helps, the brown wire connects to the shiny half moon brass thingy above the stalk, is held in place by two brass rivets and touches the steering column brass ring with a brass touchy thing.???

if I connect this to the purple wire via a doubler and then touch the horn wire to the column I just get sparks., pretty, but not right...?

Glad you have some results, since I do not have the later type trafficator
switch I cannot double check but Brown wires are usually confined to the
starter solonoid, the control box, and to one of the fuses, and are always 'Live'. The Horn is live at all times via a Purple lead and is operated via
the Purple/black wire. Someone with the late switch will finish this off for you.

actually the wire is brown with black tracer

and if it is on top of the switch like you say, then it should go to the horn

wahey!! - plugged the brown wire to the purple/black wire, undid a wire I found connected (spliced) to it way under the dash? and it's working......................... my pick-up might have had an interior light in it years ago, because there is another set of purple/black just loose, that doesn't go to anything, I have connected this to my rotating beacon on top of my pick-up via a switch on the dash and this works perfectly aswell. well, I got this far and then my half ar*ed battery died, so it's on charge.
I now have working lights/highbeam/indicators/green stalk light/horn/wipers/washer/heater/ignition/beacon. I don't know if the petrol guage works as there is no petrol in her yet, also will have to check the brake lights 2morrow.

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU THAT HELPED ME OUT, I OWE YOU ALL A PINT..., will let you know how 2morrow goes, cheers....
