The green arrow is pointing to what appears to be the small bore oil pressure gauge pipe I mentioned in my earlier post. There looks to be a number of spirals in the pipe as there should be.

If you were to join the Morris Register, you may find that there's a monthly club meeting known as a Noggin & Natter (usually held in a pub) near to where you live, if so, I'm sure one or more of the local members would be willing to look at your car and advise on the way forward.

Re 6V Battery Specification - the original Morris Motors specification for the M8 Series E battery was a 51 amp hour, but many Eight owners today are using 80 or 90 amp hour batteries.
