Is this a new clutch, and was it OK with the old one? A typical cause of a heavy clutch is a worn/binding pedal and linkage and/or a pedal return spring that is too short/heavy' but a bit of history will help with diagnosis.

I am going to remove engine to check, its an easy job and then I can check clulch out and put my mind at rest.

All the linkage and pedal bits are good,I removed clutch pedal and cleaned it up and greased it all when I fitted new M/Cyl to brakes

Have removed motor and stripped clutch, found a small spring had come off the the clutch cover operating mechanism,it was a bit bent up so I guess it had been caught up somewhere.Luckily still have old clutch cover so swapped spring over.Reassembled and refitted, appears to be OK

Excellent, well done, and thanks for reporting back, it's always good to know a resolution, and very helpful for anyone else with the same problem :D
