Extra blower fan for heater?

Post by Chipper »

Just spotted this Traveller for sale in the Netherlands, which appears to have an extra attachment to the heater trunking in the engine bay:

I'm presuming this is an additional blower fan - is it an export-only fitment, or an aftermarket add-on, does anyone know?

Export fitment to colder countries. May also have the carb heaters and the remote brake reservoir for Sweden?

Interesting. Wonder if it still takes in cold air from the grille, or uses the engine bay air, and how much more effective it is?

From what I can remember it has a second hose bent through 90 degrees that feeds from the original grille hole. Just a booster but I should think it makes a difference. Can be made from a pre 1970-ish Sprite blower.
I'll try to find the part numbers to see what else would be needed.

John
I understand that the Citroen Dyane (similar engine to the 2CV) takes its air from the engine air coolant fan chamber and in some quarters is therefore considered to be supercharged. :D

Much like the fake electric turbo/supercharger kits available on online auction websites, I doubt they create enough pressure to make a difference. :p

For demisting and heating, on the other hand...

Right hand side, two thirds of the way up the picture, above the wiper motor, the reservoir is almost out of the picture (if this is it?).
Best wishes,
Mike.
