2" Rev Counter (Tachometer)

Does anyone know who supplies the 2" Rev counter/tachometer as used on the 're-engineered' David Brown Mini? It appears to be a Smiths judging by the size and style (and lettering stating 'Smiths'!), but I weren't aware they made any in that size 'back in the day'...

They were made back in the day as well. However, I've only seen them in an enclosed mounting, not to be mounted in a panel, but on a steering column for example.

I would go so far as to suggest that a 2" rev counter of the type displayed in the photo above is next to useless - if a rev counter is to be used for its correct purpose it needs to be of a useful size, easy to read and in direct vision of the driver so as he/she is able to be read the revs at any engine/road speed without distracting the drivers vision from the road ahead.
The white needle on the black background is easily read and when in the vertical position (7000rpm) I know that it is time to change up a gear.

Thanks for the replies, looks like the Smiths RVC1-1B52-01C (in the 'Magnolia' section) with the black instead of magnolia face would fit the bill nicely.

I appreciate what you're saying, Phil, from the immediate readability factor so important in a race-bred car, but I only really want a small one to fit in with my current set of 3x 2" Smiths gauges, which are reasonably readable, set in the old glovebox position immediately ahead of the steering wheel.

What's the big red light in the centre of the dash - a low oil pressure/kill the engine pronto warning lamp?

The big red light is the ignition warning light.
When you are all kitted up and ready to go the last thing you want is the embarrassment of trying to go on a dead engine.
