Camshaft Gear Nut

Post by Monty-4 »

Hi folks, trying to replace my timing chain at the moment but having trouble getting the large nut off.

I tried my 33mm socket and it slips and may have rounded off the edges a little. My 32mm doesn't fit. 3/4 Whit and 7/8 BSF are actually little bigger at 33.02mm, no? A bit stumped. :-?

This was discussed in great detail a few days ago - do you not read the threads ? The answer is to NOT use a socket (especially one not the correct size  ) and far better to use an open-end spanner. http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=62933

I do read the odd thread and did search but missed that most recent one. Apologies.

No problem - the open end spanner WORKS.
