Different boot lids?

Post by Minor-Bramsche »

Hi there,

just a short question; there are differences in the lids of 54th SII and the later models?
My little Lady needs a new one ...

Thanks and bye

Dirk :D

I believe the lids are the similar and will fit but the sealing strip and chrome work is different, that is motif, hinges, handle, badge and stay.
Should be ready for tea time.

Hi Dirk I repaired mine which was rotten at the bottom, but you can get a complete lid. All parts from ESM, here it is:

Hi,
Looking at the price for that boot lid I think you'd be far better off repairing your one.
Plus, as stated in the last post, the holes in a late lid will not match up to your early badging etc, so you will need to fill them with weld before you drill new ones and hope you've located them accurately.
If it's gone in the usual place, along the bottom, here's a link to a repair panel (below).
Best wishes,
Mike.

I just checked ESM site and it seems that both the steel and fibre glass boot lids are not available!

Yes sorry I should have checked that they were in stock, however, BM seem to have them in Fibre Glass and also the repair panel, but no doubt ESM will get them at some point.
