But why not just treat the car (and yourself) to a complete new 45D dizzy - then it is drop-in, no fuss no bother, new vacuum advance new cap/leads -all new - and your old dizzy goes in the boot as a 'known good' spare. Some folks run into problems fitting the 'kit' - is it worth the hassle? The 45D is a later model 'improved' dizzy. Go for it!
Thanks for all this help, so does this mean that all I nned to convert is to purchase kit 5 but not ALSO a new distributor?
Apologies this is so protracted!

You don't need a new distributor, just the right kit for the one you have now.
Glad to be back!

Either buy a kit for your (likely 25D dizzy) or buy a complete new dizzy in which case I suggest the 45D is worth the little bit extra.

If I were you I'd definitely go for an Accuspark 45D complete dizzy. Got them on my Moggies and Series111 Land Rover and had no problems whatsoever. :D
